Problems and Crucial Issues

The abuse of all basic human rights including but not limited to:

·        Violation and colonization of territories

·        Loss of language and self-esteem

·        An insufficient participation of women and women issues

·        Substance abuse

·        Suicide

·        Sexual Abuse

·        Imposed military service

·        Discrimination by governing state, the church and legislation

·        Pesticides in the environment

·        The destruction of and the denial to the access to natural resources

·        The influence of mainstream media

·        The abuse of youth labor rights

·        Gender issues (the degradation of gender roles within social norms)

·        No importance to youth implemented in law/legislation

·        The continued denial to access of education, health care, employment, sports and other alternative recreational activities

·        No access to media

·        There is no youth participation or youth voice taken into account with the government legislation

·        Indigenous youth participation should be strengthened in the international arena.

We therefore resolve to:

·        Build and strengthen our international youth networks (economic, political, social, environmental)

·        Incorporate the participation and equity of Indigenous women’s voice in all of our efforts

·        Support culture camps for youth

·        Support youth exchanges including education, art, culture and language

·        Support and coordinate conferences and workshops including community group efforts

·        Conduct training’s in alternative media and press

·        Encourage submission of article of our issues to existing alternative press

·        Seek other indigenous youth organization’s worldwide

·        To have the political participation of youth in all arenas

·        Provide capacity building in the international arena work for Indigenous youth
